For this meetup, I had the pleasure of going to my second Nash UX Meetup. For this meetup I had pleasure of learning about new products that people in the UX Field use in their day-to-day life. I also got to learn about how people figured out a way to use AI to create a portfolio website without them having any coding experience was whoever.
Products Shown
1. Avion – Story Mapping
So, what is Avion?
Avion is a web app that people can use to be able to design the flow of things that they are working on.
A UX Designer can use this app to be able to explain to stakeholders and designers what the flow of their app is going to look like. A Developer can use this to show other team members what has been worked on and what other items should be the main priority of the team so that they can be able to release the product in a timely manner.
This product can be also be used by a group of people who are working on a project or for those people who are working on any other creative project such as a movie or animation.
This tool can be very useful in those fields because it also allows project managers and directors to divide stages in the project in an accessible and easy-to-understand way.
2. Vercel and Claude AI
In this segment of the presentation, the presenter showed off how he was able to create a portfolio website with Claude AI and Vercel.
Vercel is a web platform, just like reclaim hosting or WordPress, that allows users to create, host, and scale a personalized version of the web. Vercel also allows users to create a website in their platform as long as they have a GitHub account and you link GitHub into Vercel.
After having GitHub and Vercel linked, the presenter started walking us through how he was able to use Claude.AI to create a website through Vercel.
One of the coolest thing that I was able to take away from this portion of the meetup is that WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace are not the only places in which you can create a website from he ground up without having any coding experience. But that with teh assistance of AI we can create a website that is not only usable but also accessible in the web.
3. Miro
When they showed it off, Miro was amazing because you can organize things according to the importance of the task and how they relate to the bigger picture in mind.
It also has the ability for a workspace creator to create a collaborative environment easily. It also allows you to create wire frames, workflow diagrams, project briefs, project plans, and prototypes all in the same environment.
You can do all this in the same environment without having to deal with the fact that you have to open a new tab in the browser you are working on and access the Information Architecture that you’ve worked on or even the project brief that was given to you by your upper manager or project director.
One thing that makes this tool better than Figma in my opinion is the fact that you can do everything that you do in Figma and more, all in the same environment.
You can also highlight a certain portion of a working diagram and assign certain people within the diagram to complete a certain amount of things. For example, one person can be working on the design of a certain feature while another can be working on improving the look of the UI across the prototype itself.
Conclusion
In conclusion, one thing that I got away from this presentation is that Figma isn’t the only tool that is used in the UX world. I liked the fact that the presenter had different ways of solving problems and making their lives easier in a unique way. and that they were able to find a way around creating a website without having any coding knowledge and using AI in an ethical way that doesn’t thread the lively hood of developers.
P.S. – I had the opportunity to meet some really cool people and also I was able to meet a class mate of mine who’s name is Camron.
Here’s a photo of my time at the event and the people I had the pleasure of interacting with.
